[ Willow had suspected something was off, but seeing Percy’s Sleepr post confirms it. So she doesn’t even bother replying on the device, and instead heads straight for the castle.

Fortunately she’s visited enough times by now to know where rooms are, and where the people inside would be. She knows to look in Percy’s lab, where he goes to deal with things sometimes. ]

Percy?

[The lab door is cracked open as it often is. Percy never shut the door completely unless he was working with something that could hurt anyone else. There is no sound from inside and it takes a moment before there is an answer.]

Come in Willow it's safe.

[Percy's voice is flat and calm but there is no emotion beyond that.]

[ Her frown deepening as her concern grows, she carefully pushes the door open and enters the lab, easily finding him sitting at his workbench.

Not working, just…sitting. ]

…I’m sorry.

[ She knows there’s nothing by she can really say to make the situation better, and even that attempt feels like it falls flat. But she has to try something. ]

[Percy had attempted to work. The half filled mould on his workbench attests to that. But he gave up...his heart just wasn't in it. What was the point of fighting so hard to save the Labyrinth when half the people he was saving it for were gone. They could come back, he knows that, but that doesn't help with the hurt now. He looks over at Willow and shakes his head.]

They may come back some day...that is what little hope I have at this point.

[He wishes he had warned them what they were going back to...but he'd wanted to preserve their happiness.]

For now I'll do what I can for the ones who are left.

Yeah. I…

[ She hesitates a moment, then steps forward and wraps her arms around his waist in a hug.

It hurts her too. Vex and Vax had been among the first people to help her when she first arrived in Somnius, and she considered the people from Exandria like family.

But she knows that those people are Percy’s family. And nothing she can say can really make him feel better. She can only hope to remind him that she’s here for him too. ]

[He is not normally a hugger, but Percy hugs Willow tightly taking comfort in the fact that this young woman needs comfort too. It's like Cassandra and Vesper are here and need him. He will fight for Willow and her friends because that is what he is good at.]

It's alright Willow...we will be okay.

[ She nods against him, even as she buries her face in his chest, trying to blink back the tears threatening to fall. ]

I-I know.

[ They could manage to get through. It’s really all they can do. But it will still hurt. ]

[He gently rubs her back to let her know it's okay to mourn the people that are gone. He has spent so much time grieving that he understands the importance of tears.]

I have you...it's alright...cry if you need to you'll feel better.

[ She can’t help a soft, sad laugh at that, pulling back a bit to look up at him as she wipes her eyes under her glasses. ]

I came to check up on you…I didn’t mean to make you comfort me.

[He smiles at her though the spark of it doesn't reach his eyes]

It's happened before....and sometimes comforting another pulls me out of my own head.

[ She sees the at the smile doesn’t quite reach, and she frowns a little. ]

But you deserve to grieve too. And I know I can’t do much to help, but…I’m here if you need it.

And I am grateful for that. Grief of any kind isn't easy for me to deal with but knowing you and Scanlan and Tary are here will help.

[ Willow nods, but she still wishes she can do something to help. ]

Is it…okay if I stay here with you for a while?

[ She could understand if he preferred to be alone right now, but… ]

Of course...you can help me.

I am trying to make Essek and Caleb a wedding gift but struggling with what to make.

[He nodded at the now cool mold on the workbench]

That is the newest attempt over there.

[ With a small smile, Willow nods and hops up onto the extra chair, looking over the mold. ]

What is it?

An astrolab...but I can't find a metal flexible enough to make the more delicate parts

[Percy sighs in frustration]

I tried wedding rings as well. but then I didn't want to assume they would do those. Wedding customs are different across Exandria I figure an astrolab might be welcome most wizards have them.

Maybe you could ask them if they have want rings.

But what’s an astrolab?

I've been meaning to do that and time has gotten away from me.

[He smiles slightly]

An astrolabe is a device that uses altitude to measure both time and the stars. Ships captains use them for navigation and wizards sometimes use them to measure time by the stars,..that helps with ritual magic. So like a star watch.

Oh, so kind of like a star chart? Okay. [ She looks over the mold again, thinking. ] Do you know Blake? She works in a forge where they make weapons. Maybe they might have something there that could help?

No I don't but I am always open to meeting another metal worker.

[Another smile]

Sharing ideas is an important aspect of any inventor's work no matter what materials they work with.

[ Returning the smile, Willow nods. ] I bet they'd be able to help out there. I can reach out to her if you want, or I can give you her contact info.

[ With a nod, she pulls out her device to send Blake's information to Percy. ] I'll try to let her know too, so maybe you guys can get in touch.
